Last week, my doctor instructed me to start limiting myself to two cups of coffee per day. She claims that that is "normal" coffee consumption.
Me? I'm calling bullshit.
So, what's "normal," my people? How many cups of coffee do you drink each day?

Two? I just spit my coffee. Now, I'll need a another one!
eh 2 or 3...limiting coffee...i feel like i am in a nightmare...
No such thing as normal, what works for one doesn't work for another, so drink away I say.
I only drink decaf now so I assume that means I drink less than 2 coffees a day. Mind you I drink about 8 de-caffinated ones. :D
I don't drink coffee but I drink 2-4 cups of tea a day. It is decaf though.
One.
But it's a Large Regular Double Cream from Tim Horton's. Always Fresh!

I do shots of espresso...and my morning cup has anywhere from 3-4 shots in it (mixed with the milk), for starters. As the day moves on I've had more shots of café but these days, THIS year, I'm doing less coffee and more water and feeling better.
I'd say I average about four a day, but most of my coffee cups are large, so if you're going by the 6 oz. per cup definition (which is a ludicrous measurement in my opinion) it's probably more like six.
One coffee and 5 teas, all decaff.
Coffee used to be my life. I'd drink 21 cups a day easy but today I don't seem to like it anymore It doesn't taste like coffee unless you cover it up with all these flavours and cremes but then its more like a liqueur. lol
I'll drink it if I make a pot. But a 12 cup coffee pot will last me more than a day . Many times we throw it out.Tea seeems to go down better these days.
4-6. I don't know how I'd get through the day without them. (I'm assuming a cup is 8 oz.) Your doc is certainly looking at a different kind of normal. :)
I'm the weird one -- as always, I don't drink coffee, never have. Don't know that I feel any better than the rest of you though regardless of how much or little!
Believe it or not, but I've never had coffee
I drink 6 cups per day usually - that's cups as defined by my coffee maker. So really if I use my big mug, that translates to 2 mugs. :)
I did switch to 1/2 caf 1/2 decaf.
when i had to go to work, it was 2. now that i'm lazing about the house, it is 4-5. :) always in the morning, though.
I drink more tea than coffee these days, but when I did drink it regularly, it was 2-3 cups per day. With the tea, it's more like 3-4. Full caffeine with both.
Next thing you, know you're gonna be asking about our alcohol intake each day! ;)
Depends on the size of the cup. (Like limiting wine consumption to one glass.) Seriously, when I was working, I was drinking coffee all day at my desk w/ unlimited refills at lunch blah blah and I did get a little overly-caffed. As in disturbed or no sleep.. So yeah, you can get too much.
NOw I usually drink 2 mugs every morning (about a cup and a quarter each I guess).... doesn't seem to hurt me.
Seems I've recently picked up a coffee habit. I've never been a big coffee drinker, but recently my employer has begun stocking up the break room with some gourmet coffees. I can't seem to be able to resist 'em!
only TWO? How ever will you survive?
I drink at least 4 sometimes more
Two per is all I can usually deal with.
However, after my weekly grocery shopping, I will stop off and pick one up from Starbucks.
